The name Isis translates as “throne” or “Earth” from Ancient Egyptian language.
Isis (Goddess of Creation, also known as the Mother of Creation, Lady of the Plants, Mother of All, Goddess of Love, Protectress, Giver of Life, the Queen of All Gods, Lady of the New Year, Maker of the Sunrise, the Green Goddess, Lady of Joy and Gladness, Star Goddess and the Great Mother Goddess of the Universe) was a great goddess because she brought happiness and wealth to her Egyptian people, by giving them their life source, the Nile River, and by helping them plant and harvest corn and make bread, spin flax and weave cloth. She was like any other god, because she helped people succeed in common day Egypt. She brought people food, and babies to the women; this kind of things helped the people be a better civilization with new and advanced technologies to make products, like food, clothes and new funerary stuff. This products helped people to be healthier, with better clothes and a fancier death ritual.
The goddess Isis was the most important sacred figure for the Egyptians, and also one of the most interesting. This was because she was known as the mother of everything existing in the whole world, and she was also the goddess of children and women. Besides this, what makes Isis really important was the fact that she had the power of moisture and water. She gaved the Egyptians the Nile River to keep their crops wealth, and their people healthy. For this reason, Isis was a goddess the Egyptians gave their full respect to. Many people admired Isis, because she was rumored to be the most powerful magician in the universe.
Egyptian beliefs say that Isis was Osiris’ sister, but people recognized Osiris as her husband. Seth, their brother was so angry that he tricked and murdered Osiris. Isis was really upset and unhappy when she found Osiris’ body next to a tree, but then, with the power of her love, she brought Osiris back to life. They both had a baby, which was named Horus. The myth of Isis and Osiris celebrates de changing cycles of the year; Osiris is the life force of nature, which dies and is reborn, and Isis is the force of love, which can create new life out of old. Isis also represents power, youth, and wisdom, as well as motherhood, marital devotion, the healing of sickness, and the working of magical charms and spells.
